Shoot 'n' Edit will demystify the whole digital content creation process and set you out on the road as a predator. This course provides the highest calibre, practical tuition with cutting edge camera technology and the world's most popular non-linear editing software Ð Apple Final Cut Pro. (As technology marches forward, this course keeps up-to-date with all the changes from the tapeless environment through to the newest developments in HDTV.)

Pre-Requisites: A basic understanding of using cameras and video editing is useful.

What You Will Learn: Over five days, students will shoot and cut two sequences of their own and in doing so, experience the whole process from start to finish, including managing the tricky aspects of creative decision-making.

Course OutlineThe main premise behind this course is that if you know what you want you will have a much easier time getting it. As nearly all shoots (apart from live-broadcasts) will end up in the edit suite it is logical that if we understand the edit suite, it will help the shoot. A solid knowledge of editing will vastly improve your confidence and efficiency behind the camera whatever you are doing.
Course ContentThe basics of editing and shooting. ; The basics of Final Cut Pro and the Sony Z1 DV/HDV camera. ; Shoot, cut, voice-over sound mix and finish a simple 2-minute sequence cut by yourself ; Receive your own simple guide to Final Cut Pro (written by Andrea Lunesu) which is a manual focussing on getting your story onto the screen using Final Cut.
Course EmphasisThe emphasis of the course is on the storytelling aspect of the workflow avoiding technical jargon where possible and empowering you to start a multi-skilling project with the confidence that only comes with practice. We cannot teach you how to direct but we can give you all the tools of the trade.
